Mickoski announces 'system reset' after 2025 local elections, including impartial judiciary, rule of law

Makedonski Brod, 6 October 2025 (MIA) - The state needs a judiciary that is impartial and judges who are impervious to influences, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said Monday evening at a campaign rally in Makedonski Brod, where he announced a "system reset" after the 2025 local elections.

"We are about to face the moment generations have been waiting for. It's time for a system reset," Mickoski said, adding that the time had come "to break the chains of injustice and build a state of justice, freedom and care for everyone."

"The judiciary must be impartial and indomitable, with judges judging according to the law and not according to influences. Institutions need to protect, instead of keeping silent," he said.

According to Mickoski, justice should not be a privilege of a few, but the human right of all.

"Freedom is not just a word in the Constitution, but a vibrant way of life: freedom of opinion, freedom of speech, freedom from fear and pressure," the VMRO-DPMNE leader said.

"The health care system will be the pillar of this country," he said, promising "modern hospitals, affordable medicines, professional staff and prevention that protects families, instead of leaving the vulnerable to fight on their own."

Mickoski also stressed that the state should set clear rules and have zero tolerance for corruption.

"This reset will be fair, but merciless towards those who abused the nation. We will restore responsibility, we will restore dignity and we will build a system that we will proudly serve," he said.

"Together we will touch the truth, together we will defend freedom, together we will heal institutions and never again will injustice be our fate," Mickoski said.

He also said "small and large brakes suffocate the work of the state, brakes built into the institutions, operating secretly or openly."

"At all levels, from the smallest agencies to larger structures, there are elements working as part of a 'deep state'," Mickoski said.

These were not part of a single ministry of a party, but entire networks across multiple parties, state institutions and "unfortunately, sometimes across ethnic communities," he said.

VMRO-DPMNE's president noted that the announced reset had nothing to do with revanchism but with "restoring trust in institutions and the rule of law."

"This is not an attack on the nation. This is a call for accountability. Where there was abuse, there will be an investigation; where there was influence, there will be transparency; where there was corruption, the law will be enforced," Mickoski said.

"We will not allow anyone to hide behind statuses or mandates while stealing citizens' chances," he said, announcing reforms of the judiciary and the administration.

"This reset is not revanchism," he reiterated. "It is a wake-up call."

"Honesty will be the measure, accountability will be the rule, and freedom and justice will once again become inviolable values," Mickoski said, urging voters to vote on Oct. 19. mr/
