Mexhiti: Investments in projects that turn Chair into model of development, well-being, coexistence

Skopje, 17 October 2025 (MIA) - Chair is a municipality with the highest population density in Europe and its own budget is not enough. The City of Skopje and the Government have to provide their support. We launched a new era of investments since coming to power, said Vlen mayor candidate Izet Mexhiti on Friday.

Mexhiti listed the projects that the authorities have been implementing, including new streets, lighting, sewage and pavements in every settlement across Chair.

"The third stage of the Skanderbeg square is realized, turning it into a symbol of modernism, while the underground parking lot for 800 vehicles is already becoming a reality. This project will solve the traffic jams, free up public areas and turn the square into a vibrant place for socializing and culture," said Mexhiti.

On urban planning, he said elevators would be mounted in about 80 residential buildings, along with a mega-park with lots of content.

"We are building two schools, the municipality will cover the costs for the school uniforms and provide free meals for children coming from families at risk. In addition, we are building new sports halls and new kindergartens, along with the 3,000-capacity sports hall 'Chair' for national and international competitions," said Mexhiti.

He said the Mother Teresa University campus is a historic investment worth EUR 40 million, including state-of-the-art faculties, research labs, innovation centers and student dormitories.

"We are also implementing projects to protect and promote culture, including the revival of the Old Bazaar, a vision that merges tradition and technology, history and development," noted Mexhiti.

The programme includes the establishment of a center for youth entrepreneurship and innovations, an incubator for startups, and a local innovation fund, providing financial and professional support to young people and women who want to start their own business.

"These are investments that turn Chair into a model of development, well-being and coexistence," concluded Mexhiti.
