Kavadarci, 5 June 2025 (MIA) -- Health inspectors are searching for the cause of the death of a three-year-old boy from Kavadarci who was brought for medical treatment to the Kavadarci hospital around 3 am Tuesday and died in an ambulance on the way to the Skopje Clinical Center a few hours later, MIA's Kavadarci correspondent reports.
The State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate said Thursday their team was interviewing the Kavadarci Hospital doctors who had seen the child before sending him to Skopje.
Inspectors are also interviewing the general practitioner who had been the child's doctor as well as doctors at the University Clinic for Pediatric Diseases, where the child was pronounced dead upon arrival at 8:45 am.
The child's parents requested Wednesday that health authorities determine if there were any medical errors leading to the death of their son.
"Around 20 minutes to three, my wife woke me up with our child limp in her arms and told me to get up because our son was not feeling well," the child's father told MIA.
"First we asked for medical help in Kavadarci, but it seems to me our situation was not taken seriously," he said, adding that their child had died in their arms.
A police report also said the child's 36-year-old mother had told the police her son had been taken to the local hospital around 3 am and then referred to the Skopje Clinical Center. mr/
