Skopje, 10 September 2025 (MIA) -- A newly established medical council will advise Minister of Health Azir Aliu in making decisions on health care policies, the Ministry of Health said in a press release.

Anesthesiologist Marija Srceva will chair the medical council, which had its first session at the Ministry of Health earlier Wednesday.

Other members of the council are cardiologist Sashko Kedev, public health expert and general surgeon Azis Pollozhani, orthopedic surgeon Viktor Kamnar, gastrointestinal surgeon Svetozar Antovikj, trauma surgeon Igor Kaftandzhiev, thoracic surgeon Ilir Vela, infectious disease specialist Fadil Cana and occupational medicine specialist Zlate Mehmedovikj.

According to the health minister, the medical council will monitor public health developments and provide expert opinions and suggestions in drafting laws and bylaws.

"I am convinced we will have a successful and fruitful cooperation," Aliu said after the meeting. mr/
