Skopje, 1 May 2025 (MIA) – Macedonia marked its National Day at EXPO 2025, the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, with a concert by the Tanec folklore national ensemble, the symbol of Macedonian culture and tradition, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said on Thursday.
With its authentic performance of Macedonian folk dances and songs, Tanec left a strong impression, reaffirming the role of culture as a bridge connecting nations yet again, said the press release.

At a formal reception before the concert, Minister of Culture and Tourism Zoran Ljutkov stressed the importance of Macedonia taking part in the top-tier event.
“EXPO is the place where the world meets – through innovations, culture and vision for the future. Our participation is an intro of what we are going to present here in the coming period. Macedonia is participating today with a heart open to the world – proud of its heritage and focused on the future,” Ljutkov told the guests and attendees.

The exhibition dedicated to Japanese architect Kenzo Tange, the visionary behind Skopje’s transformation after the 1963 devastating earthquake, proved quite popular among the guests at the Macedonian pavilion.
“As 2025 marks 60 years since Kenzo Tange designed the Skopje project, the exhibition showcases a selection of drawings, blueprints, historical photographs and a 3D architectural model,” said Ljutkov.
Tange’s son Paul visited the exhibit, which yet again confirmed the long-lasting ties between Skopje and his father’s architectural heritage.

“At the reception, guests had the chance to taste Macedonian specialties and wines and learn about the cultural and tourist potentials as well as the investment opportunities offered by our country,” said the press release.
A series of cultural events are planned to take place on Independence Day, September 8, including performances by opera singers Ana and Igor Durlovski, electronic music composer and DJ Kiril Dzajkovski and jazz guitarist Vladimir Chetkar.
North Macedonia’s participation in EXPO 2025 is part of a wider strategy to promote and affirm the country worldwide as a modern destination rich with culture that is open for new partnerships and investments.
