Skopje, 9 September 2025 (MIA) - Levica's MPs are the only ones not to sign a declaration on fair, free, and democratic elections put forward by Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi, which is set to be on the agenda of a plenary session scheduled for September 12.
Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi said he is satisfied and hopes the declaration will reach every MP to ensure fair and democratic local elections. Gashi said no remarks have been made about the draft declaration so far.
“As Parliament, we are doing everything we can to ensure a political battle instead of incidents. Elections are the best indicator of democracy in a society. After so many years of independence, it is embarrassing to talk about incidents. I appeal for fair and democratic elections and for everyone to take responsibility,” Gashi said at a media briefing on Tuesday.
In addition to the declaration, MP questions are also on the agenda of the session scheduled for September 12. Gashi said Parliament has asked ministers to attend the Q&A session of Parliament so they can provide answers, adding that he has discussed the issue with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski as well.
