Tetovo, 11 September 2025 (MIA) - We have information of tendencies to create interethnic conflicts across the country, especially in its western parts, during the pre-election period, said Tetovo Mayor Bilal Kasami on Thursday.

"We have received information from our friends in neighboring countries of an attempt to engage some people or groups to burn the mosque in Popova Shapka. This shows that something is wrong in the country. We are collecting this information and we'll share them with our partner-states, because as NATO member, any risk to security in Macedonia is a risk for the Alliance as a whole. All countries represented through their embassies here want to help us in not allowing certain political factors to use this pre-election period for political benefit," said Mayor Kasami.

According to him, cooperation with security services is ongoing in order to prevent any incidents.

"They are telling us to be cautious and that is why we have been calling against larger gatherings, especially by fan groups. Such a situation can be a threat and lead to a repeat of unfortunate situations from the recent past," said Kasami.
