Japanese Ambassador Kawahara visits Tetovo for completion of two projects

Skopje, 12 June 2025 (MIA) – The Ambassador of Japan to North Macedonia, Setsuko Kawahara, visited Tetovo on Wednesday to mark the official handover of two projects, the donation of books to the “Max van der Stoel” library and the renovation of windows and doors at the "Kiril and Metodij" primary school.

As reported by the Embassy of Japan, as part of her visit, Ambassador Kawahara attended a handover ceremony at South East European University, where nearly 200 books were donated to the "Max van der Stoel" library under "READ Japan Project 2025."

The donated books encompass a wide range of subjects on traditional and contemporary Japan, such as economics, diplomacy, literature, anime, and philosophy.

Following the ceremony at the library, Ambassador Kawahara visited "Kiril and Metodij" primary school, where the windows and doors had been renovated with a grant of €77,188 under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) program.

According to the press release, the visit concluded with a tour of the cultural landmark, the Tetovo painted mosque.
