Skopje, 19 April 2026 (MIA) - The Ministry of Interior received false bomb threats Sunday via email regarding the East Gate and Diamond shopping centres in Skopje.

After more than two hours of checks inside and around the premises, the Ministry of Interior said that the reports of electronic devices being placed were false. There is no information on who sent the emails to the Interior Ministry.

“On Sunday, the Ministry of Interior received an email containing a threat stating that explosive devices had been placed in the East Gate and Diamond shopping centres in Skopje. Immediately after receiving the reports, police officers took appropriate measures and conducted activities inside and around the premises, determining that the bomb threats were false,” the Ministry of Interior said in a press release.

Earlier, employees at the East Gate shopping centre told MIA that around 10:30 am they received a message to leave their workplaces, after which the mall was closed to customers, while those attempting to enter were turned away by police officers securing the centre.
