Gov't: Prices of school supplies to drop by at least 10% wholesale and 15% retail

Skopje, 7 August 2025 (MIA) – To curb rising prices of school supplies ahead of the 2025/2026 school year and protect living standards, the Government has mandated traders to lower school supply prices by at least 10% wholesale and 15% retail from August 15 to September 15, under the campaign “Lower costs, more for you – we care.”

According to the Government press service, retailers and wholesalers of school supplies, such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, markers, paints, scissors, calculators, and similar items, are required to reduce prices by at least 10% for wholesale and 15% for retail.

“The decision applies to the period from August 15, 2025, to September 15, 2025, and traders are required to display both the new reduced price and the previous price that was in effect on June 1, 2025, which is used as the base price for calculating the discount,” reads the press release.

According to the Government, shops must place an A3 poster at the entrance or in a visible spot inside, with the slogan “Lower costs, more for you” and the message “At least 15% discount on school supplies,” as published on the Ministry of Economy and Labour’s website.
