Gevgelija gets new boulevard worth €2 million, says Mickoski

Gevgelija, 25 July 2025 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, during a speech in Gevgelija at the opening of the “St. Clement of Ohrid” boulevard, underscored the importance of cooperation between local self-government and the Government and highlighted the city’s role in Macedonia’s new chapter of responsible governance and transparent investment.

“The time when money ended up in private pockets is behind us. Today, every denar is visible on the ground, in a new street, a new overpass, a new intersection, and in a better quality of life. Today, we are sending a clear message: we continue to invest, to build, to transform every city, village, and municipality in Macedonia,” Mickoski underlined.

Prime Minister Mickoski noted that today in Gevgelija, together they are witnessing the fulfillment of a significant promise, the opening of the major infrastructure project “St. Clement of Ohrid” street, a new and modern western boulevard that now acts as a lifeline for the city’s traffic and economy.

Mickoski pointed out that the “St. Clement of Ohrid” boulevard was a priority project from the 2021 program, and today, just a few years later, it has been realized with an investment of over Mden 120 million, or approximately €2 million.

“This street is more than just fresh asphalt, it is a symbol of our commitment to delivering on our promises. Infrastructure is the backbone of progress. Where roads are built, trust grows, opportunities emerge, and quality of life improves. Gevgelija has become a prime example of that transformation in recent years,” Mickoski added.

In addition to this project, Prime Minister Mickoski noted that reconstruction is currently underway on part of Gevgelija boulevard, along with the overpass on Zheleznichka street and the railway line, a project valued at over Mden 25 million.

“These investments are of significant strategic value, providing improved connectivity, enhanced safety, and more efficient flow of people and goods. These are significant infrastructure projects that contribute to advancing the municipality to a higher level, demonstrating clear vision, strategic planning, and tangible results,” Mickoski said.

Prime Minister Mickoski, joined by Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski, Minister of Local Self-Government Zlatko Perinski, and Gevgelija Mayor Andon Saramanov, inspected key infrastructure projects in the city, including the high-speed roundabout at the city entrance, the bridge over the Raulj canal, the reconstruction of Gevgelija boulevard, and the overpass on Zheleznichka street.
