German Foreign Minister Wadephul visits Skopje

Skopje, 18 November 2025 (MIA) - The Federal Foreign Minister of Germany, Johann Wadephul, is set to visit Skopje on Tuesday evening, as part of his tour of the Western Balkans.

Wadephul will meet with Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Timcho Mucunski. A bilateral meeting between the two delegations will also be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

Wadephul kicked off his three-day tour in Sarajevo on Sunday and was in Belgrade on Monday, meeting President Aleksandar Vučić, Foreign Minister Marko Đurić, and civil society representatives.

Earlier, Wadephul visited Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania. In Montenegro, he held talks with Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović. In Albania, on Monday afternoon, he met with Foreign Minister Elisa Spiropali and the head of the Special State Prosecution for Combating Corruption, Organized Crime, and Terrorism.

The German Foreign Minister is arriving in Skopje from Pristina, where he met with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, and German soldiers serving in the KFOR mission.

The German Federal Foreign Office stated in a press release that Berlin remains fully committed to the European perspective of the Western Balkans, a commitment confirmed by Wadephul’s tour.

The focus of the visit, as stated, will be on the progress and challenges in the EU enlargement process, with reforms, regional stability, and cooperation among the topics for discussion.
