Gashi – Grlić-Radman: Continued and firm Croatian support for EU integration

Skopje, 27 February 2026 (MIA) - Croatia remains a firm supporter of North Macedonia’s European integration, concluded Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi and Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić-Radman at a meeting Friday held as part of the Croatian Minister’s two-day trip to North Macedonia. 

Gashi expressed gratitude over Croatia's continued and firm support for North Macedonia’s European perspective, as well as the overall bilateral cooperation. He stressed the particular value of Croatia’s readiness to share its expertise and experiences with the EU accession process and membership negotiations.

According to Parliament, the meeting highlighted the significance of the alliance and cooperation within NATO, where both countries are committed to promoting and sharing values, principles, and responsibilities.

Gashi and Grlić-Radman agreed that the EU enlargement policy represents a strategic investment in peace, stability, and prosperity of the region, as well as the entire European continent, while welcoming the country’s complete alignment with the European Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy. 

The two officials stressed that North Macedonia and Croatia have always fostered friendly relations, based on high respect for human, national, and cultural rights of the minorities who study, work, or live in both countries, assessing it as a positive example in the region and beyond.

The Speaker of Parliament voiced confidence that the Croatian Minister’s visit will contribute to further strengthening and promoting the relations between the two countries in all areas of mutual interest, and that North Macedonia will continue to be able to count on Croatia’s firm support for its EU accession.
