Skopje, 9 September 2025 (MIA) -- SDSM president Venko Filipche on a working visit to Paris aimed at promoting and defending national interests said "Macedonia needs to keep moving on its European path actively, showing results and vision," according to a party press release.
The party leader in Paris met with representatives of the French General Secretariat of European Affairs, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the French Parliament.
SDSM has been working on a proactive approach, which includes concrete solutions and intiatives to unblock the process, Filipche is cited as saying in the release.
"We are in the final phase of drafting our resolution, which will be a win-win solution for our state and citizens," the SDSM leader said at the meetings.
He said the party's proposal was "a national mechanism to deal with potential unprincipled requests by Bulgaria during the talks if they ever go beyond the negotiating framework."
He also said the Macedonian language, culture and identity were already protected in several EU documents and in the negotiating framework itself.
"By adopting a resolution with a national consensus, we will confirm these positions and also adopt a common stance on protecting them in our state institutions as well.
"This document will provide a clear timeframe for our next steps and reforms as the final unblocking of our European path," Filipche said.
He added that it was high time for political maturity and taking responsibility together for the country's progress.
"SDSM is ready to lead with a proactive approach and solutions that will move Macedonia forward toward the EU," Filipche said.
"Macedonia needs to keep to its European path, which guarantees development, stability and a secure future for Macedonian citizens," he said. mr/
