Skopje, 16 June 2025 (MIA) - The families of the victims in the “Pulse” nightclub fire will submit a written request on Monday to the Kochani Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office, asking for a detailed explanation of whom the charges will be brought against, as stated last week by Chief Prosecutor Ljupcho Kocevski.
“We are not lawyers and did not comprehend the charges presented by the public prosecutor against those accused in the ‘Pulse’ tragedy, so we are requesting that the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office clarify the investigation’s findings,” the parents of the victims said at the ninth ‘March of Angels’ held two days ago in Kochani.
The parents stressed the importance of the Kochani Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office providing them with comprehensive information on the investigation’s findings and the indictment, including the names of natural and legal persons involved, who is being prosecuted, and who has been excluded from accountability, so they can eliminate any doubts about the process.
According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office on Sunday, they are available to the families and will organize a meeting to clarify all aspects of the indictment if the families request it in the near future, taking care not to interfere with the ongoing process.
At the same time, the Public Prosecutor’s Office stated that the relatives of the victims who attended the previous meeting at the prosecutor’s office were given direct contact information and were informed that all families of the victims can at any time directly inquire at the Kochani prosecutor’s office about the progress of the procedure.
The State Chief Public Prosecutor, Ljupco Kocevski, said Friday that an indictment against 34 people and three legal entities involving crimes in connection to the March 16 deadly nightclub fire in Kochani was filed to a court in Kochani.
“An indictment against 34 physical and three legal entities is filed today to the Kochani Basic Court involving crimes that had seriously put at danger the lives and bodies of people and property in a place where a large number of people had been gathered. In fact, it involves the fire that broke out during DNK’s performance on March 16, which killed 62 people, 157 people sustained life-threatening injuries and left 54 people with injuries,” stated Kocevski.
On Sunday, Government spokesperson Marija Miteva and VMRO-DPMNE MP Mile Lefkov stated that the Ponikva resort, soon to be opened as a rehabilitation center for fire victims, is currently undergoing final preparations such as systematic arrangement and furnishing with social and educational facilities.
The new Health Minister Azir Aliu said Sunday that Kochani will be at the focus of his work, adding he would meet Monday with the head of the hospital in Kochani, as well as with the citizens of Kochani in the coming days to determine their real needs.
