Energy reforms accelerating, says Bozhinovska at working group meeting
- Activities related to the harmonization of the country’s legislation with the EU acquis, the internal energy market, the implementation of the Reform Agenda, and the progress in drafting the National Energy and Climate Plan were presented Friday at a meeting of the Energy Sector Working Group organized by the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources and attended by representatives of key energy institutions, the donor community, international financial institutions, and development partners.
Skopje, 21 November 2025 (MIA) - Activities related to the harmonization of the country’s legislation with the EU acquis, the internal energy market, the implementation of the Reform Agenda, and the progress in drafting the National Energy and Climate Plan were presented Friday at a meeting of the Energy Sector Working Group organized by the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources and attended by representatives of key energy institutions, the donor community, international financial institutions, and development partners.
The goal of the meeting was to exchange experiences, coordinate donors, assess realized activities, and identify the priorities for the next reform cycle, with a focus on accelerating energy reforms and coordinating with international partners.
At the meeting, Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska said the period of delays and improvisations in the energy sector is over.

“We are building an energy system that offers stability, confidence, and sustainability. The new Law on Energy, investments in renewables, and active cooperation with international partners are key tools with which we are accelerating the reforms and preparing the country for its energy future,” Bozhinovska said.
The Minister added that preparations are underway for a series of new investments in solar and wind capacities, modernization of the grid infrastructure, as well as digitization processes as key for transparency and efficiency.

The Ministry presented details about its activities in the past period including: the investments launched in solar and wind capacities in cooperation with KfW, EBRD, and EIB; the beginning of critical infrastructure projects such as the gas interconnector with Greece and the acceleration of the process for the construction of an interconnector with Serbia; the drafting of a national plan for the reconstruction of public buildings with a focus on energy efficiency; progress in just transition processes with concrete steps on the ground.
It also presented its main priorities for the coming period: finalization of legislation; continuation of the pace of investments in renewables and grids; digitization; promoting energy efficiency; development of interconnections; increased monitoring and fulfillment of deadlines.
“We must work fast and with focus in order to have a stable, modern, and connected energy system that will benefit the economy, the country, and the citizens,” the Minister said.
