EBRD to provide grant for national EV strategy

Skopje, 1 July 2025 (MIA) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide the country a EUR 350,000 grant for technical assistance in developing a National Strategy and Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure, the Ministry of Transport said in a press release.

Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski and EBRD's Managing Director for Central and South-Eastern Europe Charlotte Ruhe signed the grant agreement on Tuesday.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the national EV strategy, first of its kind in Macedonia, will enable a strategic approach to road infrastructure development to support rollout of EVs on the road network.

The selection process for a consultant is underway, and is expected to be completed by the end of this month or the beginning of next month. The consultant's assignment will comprise two stages, i.e. preparation of EV strategy and priority actions with deadlines that need to be approved by the Government, through the Ministry of Transport and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Domestic and international experts in the fields of expertise in EVs, energy efficiency, transport and ecology will be involved in the development of the strategy and action plan, reads the press release.
