Dimitrieska Kochoska: No rise in capital expenditures as a result of UK loan

Skopje, 2 June 2025 (MIA) - Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska said Monday there will be no increase of the capital expenditures as a result of the implementation of the strategic cooperation agreement with the United Kingdom.

"Capital expenditures will not rise because we have regulated the procedure for public investments, meaning that each institution should notify and elaborate to the Ministry of Finance the need for an investment. A Government authority will then review all these applications and greenlight the priority ones. In this way, we change the way in which we make investment decisions, instead of having a wish list," said Minister Dimitrieska-Kochoska.

She added that many projects in the past were launched but not completed for years.

"We do not want to see this repeat. I believe the procedure we have now regulated will put aside all the capital expenditures or investments that are currently not that important. As a result, we will embed the others that are part of this strategic cooperation agreement. We are currently agreeing on its aspects and details will follow," explained Dimitrieska-Kochoska.
