Deputy PM Fetai addresses formal academy on Albanian Alphabet Day

Skopje, 21 November 2025 (MIA) - Addressing a formal academy on the occasion of Albanian Alphabet Day, organized by the Institute of Cultural and Spiritual Heritage of Albanians and North Macedonia's Government, Deputy Prime Minister for Good Governance Arben Fetai highlighted the historical significance of the 1908 Congress of Bitola and its decisive role in the standardization of the Albanian alphabet, as one of the main pillars of the Albanian national identity, Fetai's Office said in a press release.

Fetai, reads the press release, underlined the contribution of the revivalists and the prominent Mid'hat Frashëri, as well as the significance of the Bashkimi i Kombit printing press in the development of Albanian publications. He also praised the dedication of collector and researcher Niko Kotherja and the Institute of Cultural and Spiritual Heritage of Albanians in Skopje, who opened the exhibition "The Congress and the Printing Press" as a tribute to the Albanian cultural heritage.

In addition, Fetai reaffirmed the Government's commitment to protecting, nurturing and promoting the Albanian language, culture and identity, considering this task a national and civic responsibility, the press release adds.
