Czech Black Hawk to joint Goten firefighting operation as Slovenian firefighting teams arrive

Skopje, 30 July 2025 (MIA) – A Czech Black Hawk, which landed at the Skopje airport yesterday, is expected Wednesday to take off to Goten Mountain to join firefighting efforts.

Early on Wednesday, the crew had a briefing with national air force commanders in which it was concluded that the best source to fill the water bucket is the Turija artificial lake, some ten kilometres from the fire as the crow flies.

In addition to the Czech Black Hawk, a convoy from Slovenia, including 61 firemen and 18 vehicles, arrived in the country, announced Stojanche Angelov, head of the Protection and Rescue Directorate.

The Goten Mountain fire is considered one of the most difficult.

Three wildfires were registered as being active by 7 am. Five have been contained and 20 fires were put out, said the Crisis Management Center on Wednesday.
