Criminal Court orders house arrest, precautionary measures against suspects in attack on Arsovska

Skopje, 12 July 2025 (MIA) - The Skopje-based Criminal Court has ordered house arrest for the first suspect in the attack on Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska, and precautionary measures for the second suspect who has threatened her.
"A pre-trial judge at the Skopje-based Criminal Court, acting upon a proposal from the Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor's Office to order measures against two people suspected of the criminal offence of 'violence' under Article 386, paragraph 3, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, and in relation to yesterday's attack on the Mayor of the City of Skopje, issued decisions by which: the person identified by the initials S. Lj., suspected of verbally and physically attacking the injured party, is ordered to house arrest for a period of 8 days, and the second suspect, also identified by the initials S. Lj., who is accused of threatening the injured party, is ordered to precautionary measures in accordance with Article 146, paragraph 1, items 1,2,3 and 6 of the Criminal Procedure Code, i.e. ban on leaving the place of residence, reporting to court authorities, seizure of travel document, and ban on approaching and establishing contact with certain persons," the Criminal Court said in a press release.
The Court notes that the parties have the right to appeal against these decisions before the Criminal Council.
Mayor Arsovska was attacked on Friday during an inspection and control of an illegal construction in the Municipality of Chair.
