CMC registers 27 wildfires, six still active
- The Crisis Management Center (CMC) said a total of 27 wildfires were reported across the country by 6 p.m. on Thursday. Six are still burning, one has been put under control, and twenty have been extinguished.
Skopje, 14 August 2025 (MIA) – The Crisis Management Center (CMC) said a total of 27 wildfires were reported across the country by 6 p.m. on Thursday. Six are still burning, one has been put under control, and twenty have been extinguished.
According to the CMC, the fire located in the Jasen National Park in the municipality of Makedonski Brod, where mixed forest is burning, is still active. Active fires are reported between the villages of Devich and Greshnica in the municipality of Makedonski Brod, between the villages of Rogachevo and Jazhince in the municipality of Jegunovce, near the villages of Chelopek and Miletino in the municipality of Brvenica, near the village of Arangjel, and near the village of Malo Cersko in the municipality of Kichevo.
The fire near the village of Oktisi in Struga has been put under control.
CMC head, Muhamed Ali, and Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Albrim Hoxha, were on the ground near the village of Oktisi on Thursday.

"The fire, although a major one, has been brought under control, but there are certain hotspots that teams on the ground carefully monitor. The firefighting operation included an 'Air Tractor' plane from the Protection and Rescue Directorate, as aerial assistance, as well as six firefighters and one firefighting vehicle from the Struga Fire Brigade, ten people from the PE National Forests, two 'Pinzgauer' vehicles from the Protection and Rescue Directorate, and local residents. Thanks to the timely intervention, the coordination of all services and the selfless help of the locals, the spread of the fire to populated areas has been prevented," the CMC said.
Fires have been extinguished in the municipalities of Demir Hisar, Struga, Delchevo, Kumanovo, Staro Nagorichane, Saraj, Arachinovo, Sopishte, Shuto Orizari, Zhelino, Tetovo, Gostivar, Prilep, Resen, and Cheshinovo-Obleshevo.
