CMC: Flooding and landslides in Polog region, situation in Kichevo back to normal, no threat of river swelling in Kumanovo

Skopje, 16 February 2026 (MIA) - The Crisis Management Centre (CMC) said Monday the heavy rainfalls across the country have caused problems in several regions, with Polog, Kumanovo, Kichevo and Skopje the most affected areas.

Floods, landslides and damages to infrasutructure have been recorded in these regions, with various interventions and evacuations seen in the country's northwest.

In the regions of Tetovo and Gostivar, the CMC has intervened due to flooding and landslides, with the Vardar river flooding several houses in the municipality of Zhelino.

There is currently no threat of river swelling in Kumanovo, Lipkovo and Staro Nagorichane, since water levels have dropped.

Rainfalls have also stopped in Kichevo and water levels in rivers have dropped. About 250 people have been evacuated from their houses due to flooding.

According to the CMC, there are no major problems with the rising waters of river Vardar for the time being.
