Chuchulj pledges transparent work at anti-corruption commission, calls for integrity and accountability from all institutions

Skopje, 4 December 2025 (MIA) - The new head of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (SCPC), Adem Chuchulj was sworn in Thursday before Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi. He announced that, together with his team, he will call for integrity, accountability, and transparency from all institutions.

“Being appointed head of the institution where I started my career is a great honor. At the same time, it is a great responsibility, given the challenges faced by both the Commission and the country in the fight against corruption. In this regard, as the SCPC head, I will advocate for transparent work within the institution, and together with my team, we will call for accountability and transparency from all institutions. We are an institution that promotes integrity, and we will seek to ensure that integrity is promoted and strengthened across all institutions. Only through such commitment, and with integrity in both institutions and public office holders, can we contribute to a better society and reduce corruption,” Adem Chuchulj, the new SCPC head said.

Answering a journalist’s question on the SCPC’s priorities, he said the Commission faces many challenges.

“The European Commission’s assessments are as they are. As head, I will work to improve them, which will require considerable effort. In my interview in the Parliament, I stated that I will prioritize digitalization and preventive tools. We are drafting a new National Strategy through an inclusive process involving all relevant stakeholders. I hope this preventive mechanism will be more concise and implementable than the previous one, addressing systemic weaknesses that generate corruption. I also emphasized that, as head, I hope to have the Commission’s support in enhancing our proactivity in monitoring the assets of elected and appointed officials, which is noted in the EC Report and GRECO’s sixth recommendation,” Chuchulj said.

At a session Wednesday, Parliament elected Adem Chuchulj as the new President of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (SCPC). Chuchulj received the support of all 82 MPs that cast their vote.
