Bozhinovska in Prague: Aligning Macedonian electricity system with European standards

Skopje, 16 December 2025 (MIA) — A delegation led by Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources Sanja Bozhinovska paid a working visit to the Czech Transmission System Operator ČEPS in Prague, according to an official press release.


The visit was carried out as part of the state's agenda for improving institutional capacities and aligning the Macedonian electricity system with European standards. It was aimed at exchanging experiences and good practices with ČEPS regarding the integrated European energy market and its strict rules, the release said.


Minister Bozhinovska met with Martin Durčák, chairman of the board of directors of ČEPS, and the delegation, which included representatives of the Macedonian Transmission System Operator MEPSO, reviewed advanced solutions for managing and modernizing the electricity system and strengthening energy cybersecurity.

 

 

Special focus was placed on long-term planning, the integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems as well as ensuring power system flexibility and stability amid an accelerated energy transition, the release said.


Meeting participants expressed mutual readiness to deepen the cooperation between MEPSO and ČEPS through the exchange of experts, study visits, specialized trainings and potentially establishing a longer-term cooperation framework of strategic importance, it said. mr/
