Bozhinovska - Columbia: Shared vision for energy efficiency, citizen support

Skopje, 20 August 2025 (MIA) - Possibilities to deepen cooperation in the area of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, support for vulnerable categories and development of climate change and environmental initiatives were in the focus of Wednesday's working meeting between Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Sanja Bozhinovska, and United Nations Resident Coordinator, Rita Columbia.

A central point of discussion was the UN support in organizing the Fourteenth International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development (IFESD-14), which the Energy Ministry will host on October 28-30, 2025, in Skopje. Columbia has reaffirmed the UN's readiness to provide support in terms of participation of relevant high-level speakers, which will amplify the forum's significance and impact, Bozhinovska's Office said in a press release.

"Cooperation with the United Nations is key to advancing national policies and delivering concrete benefits to citizens. With the UN's support for our forum, we will be able to ensure the participation of experts and relevant speakers who will raise the discussion to a high level," Minister Bozhinovska pointed out.

Talks also tackled opportunities to deepen cooperation in terms of the Green Financial Instrument, introduce sustainability-linked government bonds, and support energy communities, with the aim of providing more inclusive and sustainable solutions for citizens.
