Skopje, 25 January 2026 (MIA) – The Skopje Red Cross, Gazi Baba Municipality Red Cross and Transfusion Medicine Institute are organising Sunday the traditional blood drive event to honour late Toshe Proeski on his birthday.
The event is taking place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the ARM House in downtown Skopje.
“The blood drive has become a well-known humanitarian tradition in Skopje, bringing together many citizens each year, especially young people inspired by Toshe Proeski’s life and legacy,” the press release said.
The tradition of organizing blood drive events to honor the great Macedonian singer Toshe Proeski began in 2010 and has been taking place ever since, with over 6.000 blood donors taking part.
“Voluntary blood donation in the Republic of North Macedonia aims to encourage as many citizens as possible to donate blood, in order to provide sufficient supplies of blood and blood products for the timely and successful treatment of the sick and injured. Blood donation promotes the values of humanity and solidarity, especially among young people, and contributes to improving health culture and public awareness,” Red Cross said in a press release.
The singing legend who died in a tragic car crash in 2007 was born on this day in 1981 and would have been 45 today.
