Aliu: Licenses revoked from six medical cannabis companies over irregularities

Skopje, 24 February 2026 (MIA) – Licenses for cultivating cannabis for medical purposes have been revoked from six companies due to multiple irregularities, Health Minister Azir Aliu said at Tuesday’s press conference held at the government.

As he said, licenses were revoked from Alphapharm, which had been involved in marijuana smuggling to Serbia, as well as from Green Life, CBD Medplant, Life Plant, Atapharm and Cannabinoids.

“The government’s decisions are based on the findings of the inspections carried out including improper storage of dried flower, inconsistent reporting to the Commission, and failure to submit complete documentation for sales and transfers,” Aliu said.

In addition to the inspections already carried out in 13 legal entities, Aliu announced inspections of all 43 legal entities cultivating cannabis for medical purposes.

Due to shortcomings and the possibility of abuse identified in the existing legal framework, Aliu announced that a new legislative solution will be adopted once inspections in all 43 legal entities are completed.

“We have identified weaknesses in the law and will introduce a new legal solution that will prevent abuse. This will be entrusted to experts, and the solution will be aligned with EU directives and with practical needs,” Aliu said.
