Kriva Palanka, 29 May 2020 (MIA) – Continual reforms and tangible results will contribute to North Macedonia’s progress. The European Union will soon present the negotiating framework and we hope that negotiations will open this year, said EU Ambassador Samuel Žbogar on Friday.
Ambassador Žbogar attended the official launch of construction works on a contemporary irrigation system in Rankovce municipality, part of EU-funded project “Small-scale, low-cost, environment friendly irrigation schemes” worth EUR 1,7 million.
“Agriculture is one of the accession chapters and I recommend the country to be well-prepared. I encourage the Government and the competent institutions to implement reforms and establish associations for water management and preservation of this precious resource, because agriculture is the sector that is mostly affected by climate change. Creation of good water systems is key, but there are also other segments such as land fragmentation, uncultivated land etc that institutions should focus on,” added Žbogar.
He noted that the EU and its Delegation in North Macedonia would continue their committed efforts in all fields, working together on solidarity and promotion of common values for all citizens.
