Berlin, 6 February 2021 (dpa/MIA) – Williams will unveil their car for the 2021 Formula One season on March 5, the British team said on Friday.
The FW43B will continue to use Mercedes power as the cars have done since 2014, but this will be the last car to feature a Williams-designed gearbox as the team confirmed they will be using Mercedes transmissions in 2022.
The traditional team has been struggling lately and finished last with no points in the 2020 constructors’ championship. For 2021 they will keep the same drivers line-up with top talent George Russell and Canada’s Nicholas Latifi.
Recently the Williams family have stepped out of the team after the team was sold to Dorilton Capital, a private investment firm from the United States.
Other teams who already announced their car launch dates are McLaren (February 15), Alpha Tauri (February 19), Alfa Romeo (February 22) and world champions Mercedes (March 2).
The F1 season begins with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 28 after the Australian race scheduled a week earlier was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
