Berlin, 4 June 2020 (dpa/MIA) – Turkish league leaders Trabzonspor have been banned from one European season for violating financial fair play rules again, the ruling body UEFA said on Wednesday.
Trabzonspor reached a settlement with UEFA in 2016 over financial issues but were then deemed to have spent more than they earned in 2019 which led to the sanction, UEFA said.
UEFA said that the club would be excluded from the Champions League or Europa League in 2020-21 or 2021-22 if they qualified.
Trabzonspor lead the Super League on goal difference over Basaksehir with eight rounds to play. The season is to to be completed after a coronavirus-related break from June 12 onwards.
