Brussels, 19 June 2021 (dpa/MIA) – A third body was found on Saturday after a primary school under construction collapsed in the Belgian port city of Antwerp, the Belga news agency reported.
At least two people are still missing.
Nine other people were injured – including eight seriously – when the scaffolding and parts of the building collapsed in the new district of Nieuw Zuid. Their condition was stable, and the lightly injured person was able to leave the hospital.
Those injured and missing were all believed to be construction workers.
Belga reported that sniffer dogs were being used to search the rubble.
It is not known what caused the building to collapse. The construction firm said that it was “too soon” to try and answer those questions now, but it was doing everything to find out the cause of the collapse.
Belgian King Philippe expressed his condolences and said he would visit the site of the incident.
