VMRO-DPMNE marks 36th anniversary with Strumica rally

Skopje, 17 June 2026 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE is marking Wednesday its 36th anniversary with the motto “Macedonia accelerating, our commitment”. A rally will take place at the Mladost stadium in Strumica to mark the birthday.

The party is inviting all members and supporters, who believe in progress of their country, to arrive at 8 pm to show that Macedonia has the strength, energy and people who believe in their future.

VMRO-DPMNE leader and Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski will address the event.

“36 years ago, the idea that became the symbol of the fight for a free, independent and dignified Macedonia was created – an idea that united all those who believed that this country had the right to its own path, its own voice and its own future. Today, 36 years later, we mark the road we walked on together, all the challenges we overcome and all the victories we won as people. In the past 36 years, we also experienced difficult moments and major temptations. There were periods when the country had to be defended, when national interest had to be preserved and when character and perseverance had to be demonstrated. The country was taken away and had to be reclaimed. Whenever there were difficult times, the strength came from the people, from the citizens who believed in Macedonia and who never quit,” Mickoski says in a video posted on his Facebook profile.

Today, he says, the party looks ahead, talking about development, economic growth, new investments, better pay, modern infrastructure, better education, healthcare and institutions working for the citizens.

On June 17, 1990, VMRO-DPMNE held the founding assembly in Skopje.
