Janevska: Introduction of AI in education the next step in digital transformation process
- “We recognize that AI shouldn’t replace the human factor in education, but that it needs to upgrade it creating conditions for personalized learning that will meet the individual needs of the students and teachers. This technology should enable us to create an educational environment in which every individual should develop their potentials to the maximum irrespective of their initial capabilities or socio-economic conditions,” said Janevska.

Skopje, 21 June 2025 (MIA) – With the educational system undergoing digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) integration is the next logical step that will significantly improve quality, efficiency and inclusion of the education in Macedonia. While planning carefully, through a strategic access, we will gradually implement this technological innovation in learning, organizing classes and in developing human resources in general.
This was stated by the Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, at the international Education Technologies Summit, held in Istanbul on June 20-22, said the Education Ministry on Saturday.
“We recognize that AI shouldn’t replace the human factor in education, but that it needs to upgrade it creating conditions for personalized learning that will meet the individual needs of the students and teachers. This technology should enable us to create an educational environment in which every individual should develop their potentials to the maximum irrespective of their initial capabilities or socio-economic conditions,” said Janevska.
Introducing artificial intelligence in elementary schools is the first and most critical step, according to her. “Children should acquire an elementary understanding of what artificial intelligence is, how it functions and the focus must be on its ethical approach,” said the Minister.
A working group of the Education Ministry with computer science professors is working on preparing a document containing guidelines and recommendations for teachers and students on how to apply generative artificial intelligence in education, Janevska announced.
This year, the event brings together education policymakers from various countries, representatives of educational institutions, global tech companies, and technology parks to focus on shaping the future of education through the application of artificial intelligence. With AI at its core, the event is planned to feature over 100 international exhibitors and more than 50 sessions, to emphasize the transformative power of digital innovation in education.
