Gov’t to discuss new aid package for Ukraine: Defense Minister

Skopje, 30 August 2024 (MIA) - Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski told media Friday that a new aid package for Ukraine has been prepared and will soon be discussed at a government session.

"An additional aid package for Ukraine has been prepared. It will be discussed at a government session soon, although all ministers have to first receive security certificates because some of the information is confidential. The contents of the package will be announced soon. The equipment is part of the previous package, some of what remained will be handed over," Misajlovski said when asked if he and President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova discussed the new aid requests made by Ukraine at the NATO Summit in Washington.

Minister Misajlovski said it is important to assess the value of the donated aid, which, he said, has not been done before.

"We need to make a total assessment of what was sent so far, which wasn't done in previous years. In accordance with the regulations, and as a NATO member, we have to allocate funds for aid to Ukraine every year, but we do not have an estimated value of the equipment sent so far. That is why it is important to assess what we have given as a country because currently we are ranked fifth as a country in terms of donations and aid provided for Ukraine, and we will continue to do this in the future. It is very important for Ukraine, and it is important to show that we are a stable NATO member," Misajlovski stressed. ssh/ad/
