Skopje, 21 June 2025 (MIA) - Turkish 105-mm towed howitzers BORAN were delivered to Macedonia last week and they will be officially promoted next month, Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski confirmed to MIA.
Details from the contract cannot be revealed because it is classified, Misajlovski said.

The Turkish defence ministry announced that Macedonia is the first European country that received Turkish 105-mm towed howitzers BORAN.

“Congratulations to everyone that contributed to this achievement, considered of great importance since it’s the first delivery of our howitzers in Europe,” said the Turkish defence ministry.

A contract on delivering the howitzers was signed on December 12, 2022. They were delivered alongside adequate ammunition.

The BORAN is considered the world’s lightest howitzer in its class and can be transported by helicopter, making it particularly suitable for mobile operations. The system is capable of firing at a range of up to 17 km and can be deployed in less than a minute.
