Strumica, 17 June 2026 (MIA) – After 40 years, the Strumica General Hospital is reconstructed and modernized. It will be fully equipped by the end of August before being put into service in early September.
Over 4.6 million euros were invested in the building, which will serve more than 200,000 people from Strumica and from neighbouring municipalities.
Healthcare reforms remain one of the government’s main priorities, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski after visiting the hospital on Wednesday. All the projects and investments in healthcare so far improve the quality of people’s lives.
“It is the government’s duty to fulfil the promises it made to the citizens. We want to conclude everything we have started, to draw a line before defining which direction we are going to take. We focus a lot on healthcare, all the reforms and investments so far have been improving the quality of people’s lives. We’ll keep doing so,” stated Mickoski.
Health Minister Azir Aliu, who is accompanying Mickoski, said the hospitals in the country remain a priority in terms of modernization.
“Over 4.5 million euros were invested in the Strumica General Hospital, which will serve over 200,000 citizens not only from Strumica but also from neighbouring municipalities. The hospital will be one of the most modern regional hospitals offering European-like conditions,” said Aliu.
