Shtip, 20 July 2020 (MIA) – The isolation ward as part of the Shtip Hospital will be expanded, namely a new modular hospital, due to be opened in September, will have the capacity for the treatment of 50 patients.
Five modules, each having the capacity for 10 beds, will be installed between the children’s and infectious diseases wards, Alen Gjeorgjiev, the hospital’s director, said Monday.
Speaking at a news conference in Shtip, he said that cardiologists, anesthesiologists, internists, and nurses from other hospital units will be engaged to work at the modular hospital.
A total of 54 patients at the moment are being treated at the isolation ward in Shtip, with the youngest patient being 24 years old and the oldest being over 80.
Gjeorgjiev noted that so far not a single patient had been put on a ventilator since the start of the epidemic, even though the hospital had such machines.
