Skopje, 17 June 2020 (MIA) – Defence Minister Radmila Shekerinska is to participate June 17-18 in the meeting of the NATO Defence Ministers that will be held via secure video conference due to global pandemic.
The two-day meeting will address Alliance’s activities in reducing the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and plans for a possible second wave of the coronavirus, Defence Ministry said in a press release Wednesday.
“Since the beginning of the health crisis, NATO has played a key role in supporting civilian efforts. Military forces from across the Alliance have flown more than 350 flights to transport medical personnel and over 1,000 tonnes of equipment to date. They have helped to build about 100 field hospitals, whereat such a hospital was set up in our country at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic,” reads the press release.
Ministers will also discuss Alliance’s activities in maintaining security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area as well as NATO’s missions and operations, including in Afghanistan and Iraq.
