Berlin, 28 October 2020 (dpa/MIA) – Real Madrid staged a late comeback against Borussia Moenchengladbach to draw 2-2, and crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid also rallied to beat Red Bull Salzburg 3-2.
Marcus Thuram rifled home from a terrific counter-attack before tapping in Alassane Plea’s blocked shot after the break to give Gladbach a two-goal lead. Karim Benzema pulled one back in the 87th, and Casemiro’s drive into the roof of the net in the third minute of injury time gave Zinedine Zidane’s men a first point.
Atletico took the lead through a drilled Marcos Llorente effort just before the half-hour mark, found themselves behind just two minutes after the interval following goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Mergim Berisha, but Joao Felix finished off a wonderful team move for 2-2 and the Portuguese international then also grabbed the winner.
Elsewhere, Atalanta drew 2-2 at home with Ajax, Manchester City won 3-0 at Olympique Marseille. Liverpool beat Midtjylland 2-0, as did Porto against Olympiacos. In the earlier games, holders Munich made it two wins from two with a 2-1 victory over Lokomotiv Moscow, and Inter Milan played out a goalless draw with Shakhtar Donetsk.
