Skopje, 16 July 2020 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski told a press conference on Thursday that he is willing to discuss formation of a new government with all political stakeholders, but said he won’t accept blackmail and demands.
“I’m ready to negotiate because the election won VMRO-DPMNE credibility, but I won’t allow conditions,” Mickoski told reporters when asked whether we’d accept DUI’s demand for Albanian PM.
The VMRO-DPMNE leader refused to comment whether he talked to any of the leaders of Albanian bloc parties Wednesday night.
“We did not form a coalition with Albanian parties, but that doesn’t mean we won’t form one now. VMRO-DPMNE won more parliament seats than SDSM both at the 2016 election and now. As long as people support us we will fight for them,” Mickoski said.
He dismissed SDSM leader Zoran Zaev’s proposal to possibly form a government together.
“I already stressed during the pre-election campaign that I have no intention of forming a coalition with suspected criminals,” the VMRO-DPMNE leader told the press briefing.
Regarding information of results discrepancies at several polling stations Mickoski said he discussed the issue with State Election Commission (SEC) president Oliver Derkoski.
“Several such cases have been reported. SEC president assured me that results are being checked manually and will be announced later today,” he added.
Moreover, Mickoski stressed that the party’s legal committee is drafting complaints, set to be filed to the SEC within 72 hours.
He underlined at the press conference that election results show that politicians have failed the people, something which his party was aware of during the campaign.
“People are disappointed in politicians. We all have to learn our lesson and stop failing them. VMRO-DPMNE will analyze how we’ve let people down and do better,” the VMRO-DPMNE leader noted.
