Skopje – President Stevo Pendarovski held a meeting on Friday with Zef Mazi, Albania’s Chief Negotiator with the European Union, and talked about for North Macedonia and Albania’s perspectives for holding the first intergovernmental conferences with the EU and the official start of accession negotiations.

Skopje – North Macedonia and Albania got the green light to start accession negotiations in March last year. Both countries deserve to hold the first intergovernmental conferences (IGCs) with the EU and start negotiations without any delay, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani and Ambassador Zef Mazi, Albania’s Chief Negotiator with the EU, told a joint press conference in Skopje on Friday.

Skopje –Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi and Albania’s Chief Negotiator with the European Union Zef Mazi agreed at a meeting on Friday that North Macedonia and Albania share common interests in foreign policy, within NATO and the EU, regional cooperation and commitment to comprehensive development of the Western Balkans, and that their future is in the EU.

Skopje — The case of North Macedonia is a test whether the Western Balkans can trust the European Union and its promises, according to Minister for European Affairs Nikola Dimitrov at the Delphi Economic Forum on Monday. EU Enlargement Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi, at the same panel discussion, said he hoped all EU member countries would soon agree to start negotiations with North Macedonia. Otherwise, he said, the issue of decoupling it from Albania in the membership talks would inevitably be raised.

Skopje — Of the 1,658 people tested for the coronavirus over the past 24 hours, 30 received a positive result, according to the Ministry of Health on Friday. Most of the new Covid-19 cases—14—were diagnosed in Skopje.

Krivolak — Over a thousand members of the armies of North Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria, and the USA will take part in the “Decisive Strike 21” military exercise, which will take place at the Krivolak training site from May 17 to June 2, Defense Minister Radmila Shekerinska said in Krivolak on Friday.
