Skopje, 16 July 2020 (MIA) — A book launch for a monograph written in tribute to 24 late Macedonian folk singers was held as part of Skopje Summer festival at the Museum of Macedonian Struggle earlier today.
The Songs Make Them Unforgettable was written by ethnomusicologist and Macedonian Radio folk music programming editor Kiril Todevski and Macedonian Radio music programming editor Marija Velkovska.
The book is dedicated to the legacy left behind by folk singers Vasil Hadzhimanov, Nikola Badev, Aleksandar Sarievski, Vaska Ilieva, Mirvet Belovska, Blagoj Petrov-Karagjule, Nada Makelarska, Gogo Zafiroski-Zafiro, Vanja Lazarova-Dimitrovska, Blaga Videc, Jonche Hristovski, Dobri Stavrevski, Dragica Mavrovska, Kiril Manchevski, Ljupcho Duchevski, Mirko Mitrevski, Pepi Baftirovski, Esma Redzhepova-Teodosievska, Kircho Poplazarov, Goce Nikolovski, Petranka Kostadinovska, Vojo Stojanovski, Janko Uzunov, and Goce Arnaudov.
According to Skopje Summer festival’s press release, the book preserves Macedonian folklore style for posterity, providing ample material to future ethnomusicologists to research and write about. mr/
