Rome, 7 January 2021 (dpa/MIA) — Federico Chiesa’s brace helped Juventus spoil the unbeaten record of leaders AC Milan as the champions won 3-1 in a Serie A classic on Wednesday.
The Rossoneri stayed one point ahead of city rivals Inter Milan, who lost 2-1 at mid-table Sampdoria, while Juve moved to fourth, seven points off the top with a game in hand.
Winger Chiesa saw a shot come off the post before exchanging with Paulo Dybala to finish into the far corner on 18 minutes, but Davide Calabria was likewise clinical when he levelled into the top right corner 41 minutes into a fast first half.
Chiesa found again the left corner in the 62nd and Dejan Kulusevski came on with Weston McKennie on 63, setting up the US midfielder to flick in Juve’s third with a quarter of hour to go.
“It was an important game for us,” said Juve coach Andrea Pirlo, who was a star playmaker both at Milan and at the Bianconeri.
“We did not look at other teams, but we were focused and tried to play with our spirit, taking command in a game away to a strong team like Milan.”
