Tehran, 5 March 2021 (dpa/MIA) – Iran‘s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement on Friday that they had prevented the hijacking of a flight.
A man tried to hijack an Iran Air plane on its way from Ahwas, in the south-west of the country, to Mashhad in the north-west on Thursday evening, the statement said.
IRGC air marshals had managed to prevent the hijacking and the plane stopped over in Isfahan.
No one was hurt and the passengers were able to continue their flight on another plane.
The hijacker, who had wanted to take the Fokker 100 aircraft to a neighbouring Gulf state, was “neutralized,” the statement published online said.
