Skopje, 17 June 2020 (MIA) – Interior Minister Nakje Chulev held Wednesday via Zoom a working meeting with British Ambassador to North Macedonia Rachel Galloway and discussed COVID-19 pandemic management and parliamentary election preparations.
Chulev, the Interior Ministry said in a press release, presented activities police officers are undertaking to implement the government’s decisions and protect public health.
He and Galloway agreed that upcoming parliamentary election should be fair and democratic and that the election protocol should correspond to the healthcare situation in the country and aim to protect public health.
They, the press release read, stressed the importance of voter turnout to ensure the legitimacy of the process and of the new government.
Minister Chulev underlined at the meeting that the Interior Ministry is already making the necessary preparations to ensure safety during the voting process and has established for that purpose an HQ under the authority of the Public Security Bureau director.
Participants also discussed at the meeting issues regarding migration, as well as bilateral cooperation, set to intensity in the future.
