U.S. government funding bill sent to House after Senate approval

U.S. government funding bill sent to House after Senate approval

Washington, 12 November 2025 (MIA) - The law on financing the U.S. federal administration, during the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, is set to be sent to the House of Representatives for approval today, following Monday’s Senate vote of 60 in favor and 40 against, U.S. media reported.

Speaker Mike Johnson told members on Monday to start returning as soon as possible in anticipation of travel delays that have snarled airports across the country, CBS news reported.

The final legislation extends funding for most agencies until Jan. 30, while including three full-year funding bills for some parts of the government.

Republicans in the House of Representatives are confident that the bill will be adopted in the lower chamber.

It is expected that, once passed by Congress, the law will be signed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
