New York, 12 July 2026 (dpa/MIA) - Two people were killed and six others injured in a shooting at a salsa festival in the Canadian city of Toronto, police said on Sunday.

The suspect or suspects remain at large, Toronto police said on X.

The incident happened shortly after 8 pm (0000 GMT) on Saturday at the Salsa on St Clair festival in the port city on Lake Ontario.

People were celebrating in the street with Latin American music. The festival, featuring music, artists and Latin American specialities, draws hundreds of thousands of people to the streets of the Hillcrest Village neighbourhood every year, according to the organizers' website.
