Washington, 4 March 2026 (dpa/MIA) - Washington currently has no concrete plan for political succession in Iran, US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday.
"Lots of the people we had in mind are dead," Trump said as he welcomed German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to the White House.
Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last shah of Iran who was overthrown in 1979, has put himself forward as a transitional leader for Iran, but Trump did not express direct support.
"I've said that he looks like a very nice person, but it would seem to me that somebody that's there that's currently popular, if there's such a person, but we have people like that," Trump said.
