Tripunovski: IFIS modernizes forestry, replacing paper-based processes with fully digital ones

Gevgelija, 13 November 2025 (MIA) — Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Cvetan Tripunovski attended Friday the launch of the EU-funded Integrated Forest Information System project, which marks a milestone in the digitization of the Macedonian forestry sector, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy in a press release.

"This is a significant shift from outdated paper-based processes to a fully digital, data-based approach. With IFIS, we are building a more responsible forestry system," Minister Tripunovski is quoted as saying in the press release.

The IFIS will track wood flows, monitor forest fires, map biodiversity and support efficient forest planning.

"This project is proof of the government and the EU's joint committment to building a forestry sector that is modern, transparent, compliant with EU standards and sustainable for future generations," Tripunovski said.

"I assure you the ministry will continue to move this process forward, in partnership with experts and institutions to secure the long-term sustainability, competitiveness and credibility of the forestry sector. The reform process continues," he said.

Tripunovski also thanked the EU Delegation, the National Forests public enterprise and all other institutions involved in the reform process for their contributions to the IFIS project. mr/
